Some people are afraid of installing an outdoor ceiling fan as they are not sure if it can withstand all of the weather elements; however, they are nice to have when you live in a warm climate where the heat occasionally becomes a bit much. Outdoor fans and outdoor, ceiling fan lighting kits are designed to withstand such things as dust, humidity, cold and heat. As long as they are installed properly you should have no trouble for many years.
Of course there are other accessories that are also available, as with the indoor ceiling fan. You can add remote controls or consider a wall mount for the ceiling fan controls in a convenient location, which is also available with both single and dual (if there is a light kit added) controls.
While ceiling fans outdoors are not as popular as the indoor varieties, they and can be a little difficult to find, yet are well worth looking for as a way to save energy and money. There are not as many outdoor designs for the ceiling fan lighting kits as there are for the indoors, but it is becoming more popular and many manufacturers are already beginning to add more styles and designs to their collections.
Be sure to thoroughly check everything out when you decide to install an outdoor ceiling fan, meaning you want to be sure it is UL rated for outdoor use. At the time of purchase, just make sure the fan is made specifically for outdoor use. Even the smallest opening or gap could allow dust or moisture to get inside the fan and may even void the warranty.
It is possible to achieve adequate lighting outdoors including having the advantages of a ceiling fan and it can be remarkably attractive.
